The Brotherhood of the Wheel. likes. The Brotherhood of the Wheel series explores the horrors and occult secrets of America's highways, focusing on the secret society that protects the roads.

Because Belcher isn’t busy enough writing an occult Western (The Shotgun Arcana, ) and a contemporary paranormal noir series (Nightwise, ), he begins a new contemporary horror/dark fantasy series with this novel.A favored idea by conspiracy theorists and fantasy novelists sparks this story—that the Templars simply went underground when the church had their organization dissolved.

Fiction Book Review: King of the Road by R.S. Belcher. Tor, $ (p) ISBN Belcher’s masterful storytelling and worldbuilding make for a gripping and consistently surprising follow-up to Brotherhood of the ers: The Brotherhood of the Wheel (Book): Belcher, R.

There are larger take-aways from this book but this may, perhaps, be my favorite. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Belcher is the master of genre mash-ups. The Brotherhood of the Wheel comes off as a mix of horror, grimdark and urban fantasy.

It’s a blend that worked together and in my humble opinion, an ample dosing of horror. Brotherhood of the Wheel is one of my absolute favorite urban fantasy novels for several nuanced reasons.

Our story actually begins with the book Nightwise, which I have not completed despite Brotherhood of the Wheel being a spin-off, so to speak, of that novel/series.

The brotherhood of the wheel is an ancient myth that is retold and perhaps reinvented by R.S. Belcher. The writer takes us back to the world of A.D, we once again meet the Christ soldiers and the Christians who used to protect the travelers especially pilgrims who are on a holy mission.5/5(1).R.S.
